Professional therapy and transformational coaching to help you understand what is keeping you stuck, regain a sense of control, and move forward with greater peace, confidence, and purpose.

You may appear strong, capable, and in control while privately feeling exhausted, disconnected, anxious, or constantly on guard. What helped you survive difficult experiences may now be keeping you from fully living.
You have difficulty relaxing because your mind and body are constantly preparing for something to go wrong.
Your thoughts replay conversations, anticipate problems, and make even simple decisions feel overwhelming.
You feel numb, detached, or unable to experience the closeness and peace you want.
Anger, anxiety, fear, or frustration can seem to take control before you have time to respond.
Past experiences can make it difficult to feel safe with others or believe that support will remain available.
You understand what needs to change, but insight alone has not helped you move forward.t.
These patterns did not develop overnight—and lasting change requires more than simply trying harder.
Therapy and coaching can both support meaningful change, but they serve different purposes.
Explore the option that best reflects what you need right now.
Therapy provides professional mental health assessment and treatment for concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and emotional distress. It may be appropriate when symptoms are interfering with daily functioning or when you need clinical support.
Coaching is a future-focused and action-oriented process for individuals who want to strengthen emotional regulation, develop healthier patterns, increase confidence, and create meaningful change. Coaching is not psychotherapy or a substitute for mental health treatment.
Whether you need professional mental health treatment, structured support for personal growth,
or practical tools you can use on your own, there is a place to begin.
Evidence-based and compassionate treatment for trauma, anxiety, emotional distress, relationship concerns, and patterns that interfere with your quality of life.

Accessible tools designed to help you understand your responses, practice emotional regulation, and take a meaningful next step.

I’m Amanda Polk, a Licensed Independent Social Worker–Clinical Practice, retired SC Army National Guard veteran, and transformational coach with a passion for helping people understand the patterns that keep them stuck. My professional and personal experiences have given me a deep understanding of how trauma and difficult life experiences can affect the way we think, feel, connect with others, view ourselves, and experience our relationship with God.
My work is grounded in the belief that lasting transformation involves more than simply managing symptoms or changing behaviors. I take a Christ-centered approach that recognizes the connection between our thoughts, emotions, experiences, relationships, and spiritual lives. Whether through therapy or coaching, I combine professional knowledge, practical strategies, and biblical truth to help people understand what is happening beneath the surface, develop healthier patterns, and move forward with greater peace, confidence, and purpose.
When you feel overwhelmed, emotionally numb, unable to sleep, pulled into a difficult memory, or unsure what you need in the moment, the next step can feel impossible.
The 3-Minute PTSD Reset helps you identify what you are experiencing and guides you through a brief grounding or emotional-regulation exercise based on your response. It gives you a simple place to begin when your thoughts and emotions feel difficult to organize.

At Midlands Behavior Therapy, faith is not something added at the end of the process. Our work is grounded in the truth that lasting transformation involves the whole person—mind, body, relationships, identity, and spirit.
We believe professional knowledge and practical strategies do not have to be separated from biblical truth. Through therapy, coaching, and educational resources, our goal is to help people better understand their experiences, develop healthier patterns, and move forward in the freedom, peace, and purpose found in Christ.
“He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.”
Psalm 23:3
